January 8, 2014 (Chinavestor)The Dow rose 105.8 points on Tuesday, giving a boost to regional indexes in Asia. The Hang Seng Index (INDEXHANGSENG:.HSI) advanced twice as much, 283.8 points or 1.2% the next morning. Chinese stocks did even better a day before in the US. The China ADR Index, compiled by Chinavestor, rose 11.9 points or 1.6% on Tuesday.
But the advance was not universal. Stocks that advanced were just about the same as those that fell among components of the 50 member Hang Seng Index. The same is true for Chinese ADRs. SouFun Holding (NYSE:SFUN) surged almost 10% but most ADRs recorded modest gains. The reason for the strong China ADR Index performance is due to stocks that fell. Even the number was just about average, the decline rate was minimal, except for Sinopec Shanghai Petrochemical (NYSE:SHI).
