Feb. 17, 2010 (Chinavestor) Shares of Chinese companies rallied in Hong Kong on Wednesday while the mainland's stock exchanges remained closed in observance of the Chinese New Year. Shaghai is closed for the rest of the week. The Hang Seng Index advanced +2625.32 points or +1.31% to 20,534.01 in a wide rally. Most members of the index advanced outnumbering those that fell eight to one. Chinese airliners led the rally; China Eastern Airlines (HKG:670) rose 3.6% followed by China Eastern Air (HKG:1055) and Air China (HKG:0753). Resource and energy stock gained on the back of a global recovery hopes; Yanzhou Coal (HKG:1171) rose 2.4% while Aluminum Corp. of China (HKG:2600) advanced 2.7%.
