Nov. 30, 2009 (Chinavestor) - There has been exuberant institutional investors activity in Hong Kong in the last week of trading, according to files obtained from the Hong Kong Stock Exchange (HKEx). The following four companies are mentioned in this report: China Petroleum & Chemical Corp. (HKG:0386) (NYSE:SNP), Huaneng Power (NYSE:HNP) (HKG:0902), China Telecom Corp. (HKG:0728) (NYSE:CHA), and Yanzhou Coal Mining Co. ltd. (HKG:1171) (NYSE:YZC).
- U.S.-based financial holding company JPMorgan Chase & Co has raised its shareholding in China Petroleum & Chemical Corp. (HKG:0386) (NYSE:SNP) to 9.04% from 8.97% on November 26, according to the bourse operator Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing (HKG:0388).
HKEx said in a statement that JPMorgan Chase has acquired 10.842 million H-shares in Sinopec for HK$69.064 million ($8.9 million). The average price of the share transaction was HK$6.37 apiece. H-shares of Sinopec rose1.57% to end at HK$6.45 on Monday.
- U.K.-based financial holding company Barclays PLC has raised its shareholding in Huaneng Power (NYSE:HNP) (HKG:0902) to 8.82% from 8.48% on November 26, according to the bourse operator Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing.
HKEx said in a statement that Barclays Plc. has acquired 10.456 million H-shares in Huaneng Power. The price of the share transaction was not disclosed. H-shares of Huaneng Power rose 0.62% to end at HK$4.83 on Monday. - U.K.-based financial holding company Barclays PLC has raised its shareholding in China Telecom Corp. (HKG:0728) (NYSE:CHA) to 8.05% from 7.67% on November 26, according to the bourse operator Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing (HKG:0388).
HKEx said in a statement that Barclays PLC has acquired 52.752 million H-shares in China Telecom. The price of the share transaction was not disclosed. H-shares of China Telecom rose2.40% to end at HK$3.41 on Monday.
- U.S.-based financial holding company AllianceBernstein L.P. has raised its shareholding in Yanzhou Coal Mining Co. ltd. (HKG:1171) (NYSE:YZC) to 7.02% from 6.98% on November 25, according to the bourse operator Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing (HKG:0388).
HKEx said in a statement that AllianceBernstein L.P. has acquired 610,000 H-shares in Yanzhou Coal for HK$9.317 million ($1.2 million). The average price of the share transaction was HK$15.274 apiece. H-shares of Yanzhou Coal rose 4.04% to end at HK$15.44 on Monday.
