March 2, 2010 (Chinavestor) Sloppy trading made it difficult for China stock investors timing small cap stocks right. But larger NYSE listed China stocks were less volatile while presenting some of the best gains for the day. Chinese oil companies rose the most in dollar terns so far, Petrochina (NYSE:PTR) advancing $1.37 followed by smaller off-shore specialist CNOOC Ltd. (NYSE:CEO). Sina Corp. (NASDAQ:SINA) advanced $.85 ahead of earnings later this week. City Telecom (NASDAQ:CTEL) continues to show strength; the stock is up +36.7% YTD with no end in sight. China TechFaith Wireless (NASDAQ:CNTF) lost steam after a spectacular rally since Monday, another stock intelligent investors paid attention to when it was oversold last week... AsiaInfo Holdings (NASDAQ:ASIA) is similar to China Automotive Systems (NASDAQ:CAAS) from a technical point of view: both stocks are taking a breather after a spectacular run on Monday.
On the low end of the China ADR market, Shanda Interactive (NASDAQ:SNDA) failed to establish a bottom after the significant fall yesterday. The company rerported earnings on Monday and fell off the cliff- however we think that is excessive and thus SNDA is a Buy at current prices.
AsiaInfo Holdings (NASDAQ:ASIA) advanced over 10% on Monday with huge underlying volume - but lost steam and traded sideways on Tuesday. The stock is NOT overbought thus suggesting more upside is possible on Wednesday.
China Automotive Systems (NASDAQ:CAAS) is a high risk high return stock. Volatility of CAAS is just too much for the average investor - but it might be worth the risk. This stock is certainly not for the faith hearted...
Ten best and worst China stocks on Tuesday at 2:52 P.M.

Earnings will be in focus for the rest of the day. VisionChina Media (NASDAQ:VISN) is going to report today after the close. China Nepstar Drugstore (NYSE:NPD) rescheduled from today to tomorrow, before the market open. Sina Corp. (NASDAQ:SINA), a widely watched highly liquid China internet stock, will report on Wednesday after the close at 8:00 P.M. Given that NetEase.com Inc. (NASDAQ:NTES) reported improved margins for her online advertisement business segment, Sina Corp. (NASDAQ:SINA) may be up to a nice surprise.
