SAN FRANCISCO (MarketWatch) -- Shares of Priceline.com Inc. and Shanda Interactive Entertainment Ltd. got a boost in after-hours trading Monday following the release of their quarterly results.
The Nasdaq-100 After Hours Indicator, which tracks evening trading of the index's leading technology stocks, closed up 0.12% at 1,780.54.
Priceline reported fourth-quarter net earnings of $13.2 million, or 33 cents a share, compared with $3.79 million or 9 cents a share during the year-ago period. The provider of online-travel bookings posted total revenue of $260.1 million vs. $203.9 million.
Analysts surveyed by Thomson Financial had forecast fourth-quarter earnings of 40 cents a share on revenue of $236 million.
Shanda, Anadigics also active
Shanda posted a quarterly profit in the fourth quarter of 240.3 million yuan ($31 million), or 3.32 yuan (42 cents) per American Depositary Share. During the year-ago period, the net loss was 538.9 million yuan, or 7.58 yuan per ADS.
The Chinese online-game firm posted revenue of 470.6 million yuan vs. 360.5 million yuan last year. Analysts had estimated fourth-quarter earnings of 23 cents a share on revenue of $57.8 million.
Shanda (SNDA : Quote, Profile, Research) shares closed up more than 6% at $23.65.
Also after the bell, Anadigics shares dropped after it reported a fourth-quarter loss of $114,000, or less than a penny a share, compared with a year-ago loss of $3.91 million or 11 cents a share.
Excluding noncash stock-compensation expenses, earnings were $2.8 million, or 6 cents a share, according to the company.
The Warren, N.J.-based supplier of wireless- and broadband-communications products and services said that net sales increased 48% to $49.1 million from$33.3 million.
Analysts had forecast fourth-quarter earnings of 5 cents a share on revenue of $47.5 million. Continued...
